DO YOU HAVE AN IODINE DEFICIENCY?

Iodine deficiency results when you do not receive enough iodine in your diet. The body can not produce iodine and it must be obtained from nutritional resources. Research has established there is an estimated 58 million Americans who have some symptom of this deficiency which may go undiagnosed for decades.

World Population

About one-third of the world population live in an area deficient in iodine as defined by the World Health Organization.

That population will experience increased mental retardation; goiterism; increased infant mortality; and, economic decline.

Yet, this is the most preventable malady which can be avoided with the addition of iodine to the diet.

Slide Presentation

This factual slide presentation quickly informs you of this relatively unknown deficiency.

This was presented at the Iodine Medical Conference in 2007 by Dr. Guy Abrahams and David Brownstein, two of the top physicians specializing in the field of iodine deficiency.

The Thyroid Gland

The thyroid gland, which uses iodine, is considered the master gland for metabolism.

When it is not functioning properly because of the lack of iodine, you may experience some of the following:

  • Weight gain
  • Fatigue
  • Depression
  • Low energy level
  • Heart Disease
  • Anxiety
  • High cholesterol levels
  • Sexual dysfunction
  • Infertility
  • Bowel problems
  • Hair Loss

It's not necessary for you to experience all of these symptoms to be iodine deficient.

I have experienced the following symptoms which are all deficiency related:

  • Muscle cramps and joint pain
  • Carpal tunnel/tendinitis
  • A feeling of neck swelling/enlargement
  • Hoarse voice or weak voice
  • Dry skin, brittle fingernails
  • Menstrual irregularities
  • Intolerance to cold/ low body temperature
  • Tingling of hands and feet
  • High blood pressure
  • Reddish complexion
  • Excessive sleep
  • Thinning of outer eyebrows/no hair on arms and legs
  • Inability to fight infection
  • Sudden appearance of pimples
  • Lump in the throat

Associated Conditions

Lack of iodine in the body has been connected with chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, uterine cancer, thyroid cancer, prostate cancer, suppressed immune system, and autoimmune deficiency.

The skin, the largest organ of the body, may be attacked by psoriasis. However, iodine can serve as a simple home remedy for this condition.

Toxic Overload

The toxic overload in our bodies coupled with the body's inability to utilize iodine explains why one in seven women (14%) have breast cancer and one in three men (33%) have prostate cancer.

In addition, toxic halogens composed of bromide, bromine, fluoride, and chlorine prevent the absorption of iodine by the body.

These toxins are stored in the fatty tissues of the body and the surface of the skin to create cherry angiomas.

If your immune system is compromised because of toxic overload, your body will not be able to fight off fingernail fungus, which can be extremely difficult to treat.

Additionally, if your diet is high in goitrogens or large quantities of certain raw vetegables, your body will be unable to provide sufficient iodine to sustain its every day needs.

Severe Iodine Deficiency

If you are deficient in iodine, your health may now have deteriorated to a more severe level.

Or, your hormonal imbalance may have lead to hypoglycemia. It is interesting to note that when you compare the symptoms of iodine deficiency and hypoglycemia, they are strikingly similar.

This is because they are interrelated - one affects the other in the intricate balance of the body.

If your iodine deficiency is not addressed and treated adequately, your health may deteriorate to a life threatening condition called thyroid storm. At this point, the only thing which will save your life is immediate medical attention.

Resolution

Fortunately, your health does not need to reach a critical level. Simply by adding supplements such as Lugols Iodine or Iodoral, you can rebuild your health.

Increase the amount of foods containing iodine.

Complete a thorough body cleanse through the use of liquid zeolite.

Provide adequate levels of nutrients, and balance will be restored to the hormones and overall health will be improved.

Perform these simple steps and you will be back on track to restoring your health.
